Taylor Swift considered top pick for iconic movie remake: The Scoop

Time for some of today’s biggest trending stories you’ll want to know about!

First up: Taylor Swift — there’s major buzz that she might star in the remake of a classic Hollywood film. Insiders are weighing in, and we’ve got the scoop. Plus, Stevie Nicks just announced she’s working on a brand-new album — her 14th! We have the latest details on that too.

Let’s bring in NewsNation’s entertainment expert, Paula Froelich. Hey Paula!

Let’s start with Taylor Swift — this is a huge, iconic movie. What are we hearing?
Alright, everyone, let's not get too carried away just yet. We need to take this with not just a grain, but a whole heap of salt.

There’s chatter that The Bodyguard is being considered for a remake — because, let’s be real, Hollywood loves a remake these days. The excitement grew even more when people learned that the director of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is slated to direct. Naturally, fans jumped to the idea: "Oh my gosh, Taylor’s going to star in it!"

But here’s the reality check: Taylor has acted before — in Cats (which, let’s face it, was a fabulous flop) and in 2022’s Amsterdam, which also didn’t exactly set the box office on fire. Plus, Taylor’s schedule is packed. She’s a very busy woman.

Adding more skepticism: the same outlet that reported the Taylor Swift rumor also claimed the next day that Kim Kardashian might star — which feels... questionable. Especially since Kim can't sing.

What about the Kevin Costner role — any rumors there?
Yes! The same outlet floated names like Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. Personally, I think that's a no-go — they're amazing actors, but they’re also a bit too old for the role now. We don't need a storyline that feels awkward with a 60-something man and a 20- or 30-something woman. If they really want to remake The Bodyguard right, it’s time for some younger stars to step up. Personally, I could see one of the Hemsworth brothers — and honestly, I could see a Hemsworth doing just about anything.

Now, let’s talk about Stevie Nicks — new music coming!
Yes! Stevie Nicks is working on her 14th studio album. She actually started the project after her house burned down during the LA wildfires. It’s tentatively titled The Ghost Record, and I am here for it.

She described the album as deeply autobiographical and said it will be "no holds barred." Expect something raw and real — very much like her best work.

She also reflected on her relationship with Prince. They worked together in 1983 on her hit single Stand Back. One of her new songs even touches on an encounter they had: after she attended the Purple Rain premiere, she had to walk out because she was uncomfortable with the domestic violence portrayed in the film. Later, Prince asked her what she thought. She told him she only saw half of it — but brought him a necklace as a gift. His response? "I don't want your necklace. You always bring me gifts — but you never bring you."

It was a powerful moment — a reminder that real connection matters more than material things. Stevie said she's been reflecting a lot on the lessons Prince taught her, about valuing presence and genuine friendship over everything else.
